A quick disclaimer:

I am a self-taught web designer. My background isn’t in formal training, but in hands-on experience building real sites for real businesses, including my own. Because of that, there are some limitations to what I offer, and I price my work accordingly.
If your project turns out to need something beyond my skill set, I’ll always be honest about it and point you in the direction of someone better suited to help.

StartSimple Sites works primarily with small and early-stage businesses to help them establish an online presence. I provide accessible and affordable website design services, but I do not necessarily endorse or support the views, values, or messaging of every client I work with. Inclusion in my portfolio does not imply endorsement or agreement with their mission, conduct, or opinions.

What can you help with?

I can:

Build you a website with a similar structure to this one, according to your specifications
Help you to design a logo for your business, or find appropriate images and graphics to use on your site
Suggest booking schedulers and payment processors to work with - their fees will be independent of my own and as such I don't control their pricing
Embed external booking schedulers/payment processors so that customers can book directly from your site

What can't you do?

It's impossible to know all that you don't know, and so I'm sure I'll run into plenty of things to add to this list, but right now I cannot:

Build you a custom payment system or e-commerce site
Build you a site that supports user accounts and logins
Provide ongoing on-demand support - I'm just one person and this doesn't scale very well!
Build you a site for free, or get third-party companies to provide you services at a reduced fee or free of charge
Reserve you a domain name already in use by somebody else
Provide customer service for, or control the data policies of any third-party company whose services you use

What about domain registration?

If you need a domain registered, I can't do it for you but I can guide you through the process.
The cost of the domain is ongoing (usually an annual fee) and is not paid to me but rather the domain provider, so it's pricing is beyond my control.
If you already have a registered domain, I can set it up so that it is connected to the site that I build. This sometimes takes up to 48 hours to take effect.
This is again on the domain provider's side and out of my control.

I've had my site a while and I want to make changes. What should I do?

As part of my service, I will show you how to make rudimentary updates to the site yourself. I intentionally choose platforms that are user-friendly so that you can be as independent as possible in your new business.
If you want a change made to your site that you don't feel equipped to handle, this will require a second quote so get back in touch! It will be proportional to the size of the change (so if your original site cost €400, but you just want me to add some new images then the second quote will be closer to 10% of the original cost.)
If you have reached a point in your business where you'd like to upgrade to a bespoke site from a qualified web developer, that's absolutely fine!
They will have the skills needed to replace my site with theirs.
I would appreciate an email letting me know so that I can remove the link to your site from my portfolio, thereby avoiding taking accidental credit for somebody else's work!
